My Short Trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Posted by on Mar 30, 2015 in Besides Beauty, Em Português, Miscellaneous | 2 comments

Hello everyone!

Today I have a different topic to talk about.

I recently came back from a two week vacation in Brazil with my family. I went in February to enjoy the Carnaval parade/ season and had a very good experience in all of the places I went to, so I decided to share that with you.

(we’re finally up there!)

For those of you who don’t know, I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and go visit my country and home town whenever possible. Being a native, I had already visited the “Sugar Loaf” mountain, as well as the statue of “Christ the Redeemer” before, but it was the first time I went to watch a live Carnaval Parade.

WELL, I’m here to tell you how positively surprised I was when I visited all those three places. To start, nowadays, you have the capability of purchasing your tickets online to go visit the Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer, which is what I did, so when I got there, I didn’t have to stand in line. Also, I was able to find parking near by the entrances, the places were very organized and the lines were moving along smoothly. In addition, the workers were very friendly and offered help in Portuguese and English and all three places were clean (without any litter), INCLUDING THE BATHROOMS! (Yes, I pay attention to the bathroom situation anywhere I go, and to my surprise, they all had paper and were very clean, despite the high volume of people circulating in those places). And last, but not least, there were policemen scattered everywhere, so it felt nice and safe. :)

I know you are probably thinking that I’m praising these places simply because it’s where I’m from. However, the truth is, I was very proud to find the places so organized and geared to tourism that I HAD to share it with you!

Besides, all three places are REALLY beautiful, with such a gorgeous view of the city of Rio and such a good vibe (once you get up there) that’s worth the visit, not to mention that the Christ the Redeemer is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Lots of love,

Polly

Mês passado passei duas semaninhas no Brasil, fui passar o carnaval e rever família e amigos.

Com amor,

Polly

Unfortunately there won’t be a tutorial this weekend

Hi loves,

I am extremely sad with the loss of dear Karina, from “Chic by Karina”as she lost her battle this morning.

IMG_3185

I honestly had a tutorial planned for tomorrow, but I am just so sad that it wouldn’t make sense to post it.

Karina and her family have been in my prayers for a while now and will continue to be.

I am not the best with words, and instead, prefer to say what I think in person. I wish I could give her parents a big hug and all my support, but since that won’t be possible, as I don’t personally know them, I would like to say that I am extremely sorry for their loss and that I believe she is now in HIS company and therefore, in a better place than us.

Sincerely,

Polly

Oi amores,

Sinceramente,

Polly

Mother’s Day! 5/11/2014

Hi Loves!

Today I spent the day with my mom, who is  the MOST loving, understanding, caring, calm, humble, tolerant, helpful person I know. Someone who has always been there for me on good and bad times, without ever questioning my decisions (whether they were right or wrong) and without ever saying “I told you so” when I’ve made some wrong choices ( because I failed to listen to her advices).

She brightens my life and I thank God every day for having her here.

LOVE YOU, MOM!

IMATS NYC 2014!!!!!!!

Posted by on Apr 14, 2014 in Miscellaneous | 9 comments

Hi Loves!!

I’m here to share with you my experience at the IMATS New York yesterday. It was the first time I attended and I was veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery excited to see all those makeup brands displaying their makeup beautifully, with lots of color and at discounted prices. But before I go any further, let me back up a little and explain to those of you who don’t know what IMATS is.

IMATS stands for International Make-Up Artist Trade Show and it’s a huge convention for makeup artists and lovers.
There are a several booths selling Sigma Brushes, Lime Crime, Sugar Pill, Serenity + Scott, Make Up For Ever, among others, at discounted prices (30% – 50% off).
In addition, makeup artists hold classes and seminars throughout the day AND you can get to meet your favorite Youtube beauty guru there as well. Yesterday (Sunday), Carli Bybel was at the Sigma booth from 2 – 4pm taking pictures with fans. HOW COOL IS THAT??? :)

Surprisingly enough, I had a LOT of self control and didn’t go as crazy as I thought I would, even though I bought a few goodies… :) Not to mention it was a very interesting and fun experience and I SUPER RECOMMEND IT!

Lots of Love………..Polly
